PROVO, Utah—August 25, 2004

Dynix has announced that Palo Alto City Library (Palo Alto, CA), a Dynix ILS customer since 1985, has selected Horizon following an extensive RFP process. They are also installing Horizon Enriched Content, to supply their users with a dynamic search environment.

The selection process

Palo Alto's library staff, and members of the city's information technology team, conducted an exhaustive request-for-proposal process in which three finalists emerged. Dynix was selected over Sirsi and Innovative Interfaces when the evaluation team decided that Horizon would best achieve the library's high-priority requirements.

Specifically, the evaluation team found the flexibility of Horizon better than that of competing products. As a multi-site system, Palo Alto sought a solution that would offer the greatest ability to customize the user interface and localize the system's functionality among the library's various branches.

About Palo Alto City Library

The Library operates five branches and maintains an annual circulation of 1.2 million from a collection of 267,000 items. Each year, the library receives 900,000 in-person visits and answers nearly 90,000 reference questions.
